Matt's senior project was with the Capstone program at BYU. They had him (the only industrial design student) with mechanical engineers and assigned them a project.
Their year long project was to design a block press for building a "better brick" to improve housing in Kenya.
They were able to do an amazing job.
They designed a brick and a machine to make it. It used less cement so that it would be more affordable. The interlocking design would allow corners to be made and even windows.
Their project was all over the news and is going to be presented in Brazil at an Earth Architecture convention.
Pretty awesome.
