Over President's

weekend we again migrated south to Kate's. Following a rock searching book, we set out in search of petrified trees. We went up on the top of a nearby mesa and had to leave the van at the turn-off. It was
muddy as you can see from the kids shoes. We hiked for quite a while and the kids were real troopers. It was lots of fun, and eventually the boys found some really cool

examples. The book said you are allowed to take out 25 pounds plus a couple pieces
per person. We didn't come anywhere near it, but the image of us trying to haul 125 pounds of rock out made me chuckle.
