On July 10th was the ward swimming party at the Spanish Fork pool. I didn't get any pictures of Matt Jr. because as soon as we got there he was off to the diving board and the water slide.
Everyone had fun, but the shallow water where I was hanging out with the girls was cold (the party was also from 8:30 to 10:00 pm). Eliza was shivering, so we ended up on the side wrapped in towels.
Then, on July 17th I went to the Bright Ideas open house. The older kids (Matt and Marsha Kate) did a two week summer school called Bright Ideas. It is sponsored by the school district's gifted and talented program. It explores new methods of learning and higher thinking/ processing skills. This year they were learning about ancient civilizations. The kids love love loved it.
The dinosaur was built by the little kids (with help from the 4th grade aged kids on the head). Marsha Kate's class did the spine.
When Matt's class studied Egypt, they mummified a frog. Really. They dissected a real frog, preserved the guts in 'canopic jars', dried the frog, and built a paper mache sarcophagus. They made the death mask out of clay. Matt named his Emperor Frog the Third.
Marsha Kate did a variety of civilizations. They studied African masks, made a sun god for the Aztecs, and they even made their own 'bug in amber' with a plastic ant and pretend tree sap.

We love the SF pool and Bright Ideas too. My kids had to miss it this year because we were out of town. It sounds like you are having a fun, busy summer. Your kids are SO cute.
